R&DC 2020 Tech Talks – Episode 02
On February 18th, 2020, Dr. Hayek coordinated the episode 02 of R&DC 2020 Tech Talks hosted by the Carbon Management Division.
The event featured three talks:
1- Safety presentation: “Carbon Monoxide: The Silent Killer” by Samar Arjah.
2- Junior technical presentation: “Functionalized Hyper Cross-linked Polymers for Post-Combustion CO2 Capture” by Dr. Ammar Alahmed.
3- Senior technical presentation: “Membrane Reactor for Hydrogen Production” by Dr. Stephen Paglieri.
The event was concluded by an Audience Engagement Quiz using www.mentimeter.com, featuring 5 multiple choice questions. The winner was announced and recognized by the R&DC manager Dr. Ammar Nahwi.

KFUPM Lecture for Senior Year Chemical Engineering
On February 6th, 2020, Dr. Hayek delivered a lecture for 18 senior year chemical engineering students at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). The lecture title was:”Polymeric Membranes for Gas Separation: An Overview“.

R&DC 2020 Tech Talks – Episode 01
On January 21st, 2020, Dr. Hayek coordinated the episode 01 of R&DC 2020 Tech Talks hosted by the Non-Metallics Applications Development Division.
The event featured three talks:
1- Safety presentation: “Microwaving Plastics” by Noor Alsakhen.
2- Junior technical presentation: “Plastic: Design for Sustainability” by Dr. Haleema Alamri.
3- Senior technical presentation: “Role of Innovative Materials in Creating Sustainable Crude Demands” by Dr. Ihsan Taie.
The event was concluded by an Audience Engagement Quiz using www.mentimeter.com, featuring 5 multiple choice questions. The winner was announced and recognized by the R&DC manager Dr. Ammar Nahwi.

ChemIndix 2019
On October 29 – 31, 2019, Dr. Hayek attended the The 11th International Conference and Exhibition on Chemistry in Industry (ChemIndix 2019) conference which was held at The Gulf Convention Center in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain. The general theme of the conference focused on Breakthrough Solutions Through Innovative Materials.

November 6 – 7, 2018
Air Products Industrial Gases Technology Symposium
On November 6 – 7, 2018, Dr. Hayek attended the first Air Products Industrial Gases Technology Symposium held in the Dhahran Techno Valley (DTV) Science Park, Dhahran, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The venue drew large participation from industry and academia focused on collaboration. The Symposium received an excellent response with over 200 participants from industry and academia.
A panel discussion on the role of hydrogen in the future energy economy provided insights from a distinguished panel of experts including: Saudi Aramco’s Chief Technology Officer Mr. Ahmad O. Al Khowaiter; Prof. Omar Yaghi, the world leading expert in metal-organic framework (MOF) development from Caltech in the United States; and Mike Sicinski, Executive Director for IGCC Gasification/Power JV‒Jazan.
